Saul Williams | Interview

Saul Williams is an emcee, singer, actor, poet, and author from Newburgh, NY. He graduated from Morehouse College with an acting a philosophy degree and moved to NYC to find himself in the New York poetry scene. In 1996, he became the Nuyorican Poets Cafe’s Grand Slam Champion, followed by earning a lead role in the 1998 feature film, Slam. In 1998, Saul released several EPs, and in 2001, released the Rick Rubin-produced album, Amethyst Rock Star. In 2004, he released a self-titled album, appeared on the Nine Inch Nails album, Year Zero, and toured the U.S. with the band. In 2007, Saul released his third album, The Inevitable Rise & Liberation of NiggyTardust!, produced by Trent Reznor. Saul’s latest album, Volcanic Sunlight, was released in 2011.
