Nikki D | Interview

Nikki D is an emcee and the first female rapper signed by Def Jam Recordings. She signed with Def Jam in 1989 and released her debut single “Lettin’ Off Steam”, produced by Sam Sever. In 1992, she released a more commercial song, “Daddy’s Little Girl”, which reached #1 on the US Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. Nikki D has collaborated with Queen Latifah, Redman, EPMD, Naughty By Nature, and more. In 1998, she became the VP of A&R at Flavor Unit Records. As founder of Strong Entertainment, Nikki is producing an all-female mixtape series with DJ Wayne Ski, called Female Kings. The series will feature Lil Kim, Lady Luck, Queen Penn, and many more.
