Just Blaze | Interview

From Paterson, NJ, Just Blaze is one of the most popular producers in the entertainment industry. Introduced to EPMD’s music by his older cousin, Just Blaze became interested in production, and later left college after three years to pursue a production career. Whle producing for well known artists in the late 1990s, he was earned a spot on Jay-Z’s album The Dynasty: Roc La Familia. Just Blaze soon became an in-house producer for Roc-A-Fella alongside Kanye West. In 2002, Just Blaze became a household name for the production of Cam’ron’s popular single “Oh Boy”. He went on to produce for Snoop Dogg, Usher, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Talib Kweli, Buckshot, Ras Kass, Prodigy, Erick Sermon, Diddy, Jay Electronica, Jamie Foxx, Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Saigon, Beanie Sigel, The Game, DMX, T.I., Fat Joe, Ghostface Killah, Fabolous, Freeway, Joe Budden, MF Doom, Kool G Rap, and more. After Jay-Z’s retirement in 2004, Just Blaze created his own label Fort Knocks Entertainment with the help of Atlantic Records and signed New York emcee Saigon.
