Big Dubez of Sporty Thievz | Interview

Big Dubez is an emcee from Yonkers, NY. He’s a member of the hip hop group, Sporty Thievz, most popular for their song, “No Pigeons”, which was a parody of “No Scrubs” by TLC. Sporty Thievz always provided a male counterpoint to the female-oriented R&B music in the 90s. They’ve been acknowledged for other hits like “Cheapskate” and their collaboration with DJ Quik, “Can’t Give It Away”. In 1998, the group released their debut album, Street Cinema, produced by Ski Beatz. They recorded another parody song, “No Billz (Why, Why, Why?)” in response to Destiny’s Child’s songs “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Independent Women”. In the meantime, Sporty Thievz has released a mixtape and a Best Of Big Dubez project. They are preparing to release their official sophomore album, Street Cinema 2, also produced by Ski Beatz.
