Vinnie Paz (Jedi Mind Tricks) | Interview

Vinnie Paz is an emcee from Philadelphia, PA. As the lyricist behind the underground hip hop group, Jedi Mind Tricks, he is also the front man of the super group Army of the Pharaohs. Paz began rapping with his high school friend Stoupe, and the two later formed the group Jedi Mind Tricks in 1993. Their first EP was released in 1996, called Amber Probe. Jedi Mind Tricks’ debut album was released in 1997, called The Psycho-Social, Chemical, Biological & Electro-Magnetic Manipulation Of Human Consciousness. In 1997, the group included DJ Kwestion as a member, and in 1999, Jus Allah joined the group. Jedi Mind Tricks created their own record label, Enemy Soil, producing for artists such as Reef The Lost Cauze, Dutch, and Army Of The Pharaohs. Paz and ILL BILL formed a group called Heavy Metal Kings and they released a self-titled album in 2011. With numerous Jedi Mind Tricks albums under his belt, Paz also has been working diligently on solo projects. His debut solo album was released in 2010, called Season Of The Assassin, which featured Paul Wall, ILL BILL, and The Clipse, and peaked at number 25 on the US Billboard rap charts. Paz’s sophomore solo album, God Of The Serengeti, was released in 2012, and features from DJ Premier, The Alchemist, Da Beatminerz, The Beatnuts, and many others.
